Bi-Fold Brochure Design
A bi-fold is a brochure or a leaflet consisting of a sheet of paper folded in half, the fold of which forms a piece of four panels or pages. Generally, a cover, two pages of content, and a last page with the contact information (although in many cases the latter is used for technical specifications or additional content).
The most common size is double LTR open (17″ wide by 11″ high), which is ideal for presenting companies or projects, or publicizing high-value products, or when the intention is to give a good image, and the audience requires a quality piece (chiefs, decision makers, and governing bodies). It is also massively used at conventions or trade shows where the audience is well defined.
In some cases they incorporate a pocket or pockets for flyers, business cards or inserts. The addition of these pockets usually has a significant impact on print costs.
There are smaller bi-folds such as LTR open (11″ wide x 8.5″ high), but whose use is more related to traditional use of tri-folds (mass advertising of products or services).
